Day Four at Medill, but it’s hardly unfamiliar. First of all, there’s a bust of Joseph Medill downstairs, just like at Tribune Tower.
Second of all, an awful lot of students seem to be reading RedEye.
Third, half the places I walk by or into seem to be named McCormick, Medill, Tribune, or some combination thereof.
And then there are all the ex-Tribune types who inhabit this venue, too. I’m going to forget some, but Beth Bennett, Chris Booker, Michael Deas, Eric Ferkenhoff, Abigail Foerstner are around, my pal Jose More has a mailbox, and Alan Solomon stopped by yesterday.
And then there is the excitement and challenge of learning something new, and thinking about how others can do the same. Just like putting out a newspaper!
To be continued. Cheerfully.
Owen ~ Congratulations on your new gig! That’s pretty sweet. I’m sure you fit in quite well. Chris Booker who’s been given a new assignment recently asked me if I’d be interested in teaching a class on Flash at NW this coming Fall. I’ve been to one of his classes in the past and enjoyed speaking about design with the students and hope this might work out. If so I might see you in the Fall. Hope all is well. Best to you. ~ Steve
